Will VR Games Become Dominant in the Future?
Gamers all over the world were really excited when VR tech was announced, but it seems that it never really caught on, as the first games felt clunky. This has significantly changed, but we don’t see any major titles being developed as VR experiences. Much like any other industry the gaming industry is data-driven. Relying on data is similar to relying on Ladbrokes Casino promo code when gambling, in order to improve the chances of success. Basically, whenever someone invests in a new game they try to make it a fun bet. So, let’s see how likely it is for VR tech to dominate the future of gaming.
It’s all About eSports
Right now one of the trends that are driving the gaming industry is eSports, and from the looks of things, it’s just getting started. More and more titles are developed to be a new eSports competition. Meaning the developers are focusing on creating engaging competitive games that become outright spectacular the more skillful you get. Also, the eSports industry is growing rapidly and pro-gamer has become a viable career path. Companies are paying players to train and hone their gaming skills, and eSports coaches are one of the top-paying new professions.
VR is really looking cool, and it’s undoubtedly going to grow, but as things stand right now, it’s hard to tell when competitive gaming will come to VR and how it will look. Still, this doesn’t mean that VR tech will be abandoned in the gaming world it just indicates it might not be as huge as we originally thought.
Lack of Infrastructure
Another challenge this technology is facing is the lack of infrastructure. There are gaming rooms with VR consoles, and players can now run and explore in-game worlds much like the characters from the movie “Ready Player One.” However, this equipment is still very expensive and a casual gamer might not be able to afford this VR gaming station. Even if the price was lower, it’s a robust console sort of speaking, so creating enough space to set it up back at home could be a deal-breaker.
So, before the market can drastically shift to this new form of gaming two things need to happen. The gaming rig needs to become more accessible and compact. Once that market starts to grow the VR games will begin to take off and we might see major companies pivot to this new technology.
What Does This Mean
If we are being honest this means that there is a possibility for VR to dominate the gaming market in the future, we just don’t know how far that future is. Even now we have engaging VR titles, it’s just the number of other popular games is significantly higher.
Xbox tried something similar with Kinect, but the games didn’t feel as natural, whereas current VR capabilities seemingly deliver on that promise that Kinect failed to. Still, without the infrastructure that’s slowly being built as we can see, it’s unlikely we will get a big name franchise for VR. Luckily, VR is used for more than just video games, which means technology will stay relevant and improve regardless of whether we use it for gaming or not.
